Blog Post #2 Over the past few weeks, we have continued to read and learn about multicultural education and all the components that go into it. Chapter s seven, eight , and nine looked at the issues of immigration, colonialism and, the American Dream from the perspectives of Latinos, Asian Americans, a nd Arab Americans. This week we read chapters ten and eleven, which brought us into the section of the textbook titled, “Reaching A ll Learne rs : Perspectives on Culture, Gender, Class, and Exceptionalities. Chapter ten took an in-depth look at culturally competent teaching. Chapt er eleven looked at gender at how that affects the classroom. Blog Post #1 Over this course, I have learned a lot of new concepts that will help immensely in the classroom. In the first week of this course, the focus was on multicultural education as a whole. We read the first two chapters of the book Comprehensive Multicultural Education: Theory and Practice . These chapters delved into the core of multicultural education; what it is, why the author felt that it was necessary, and its core va lues. These chapters were eye opening to me, honestly, I had never thought much about multicultural educat ion . Coming into this class, if someone asked me my views on multiculturalism and multicultural education, I would have honestly had no idea.
